Plaisir Bong
PLAISIR® combines traditional glassblowing craftsmanship with modern design and a true passion for one of the most sensitive raw materials of all: glass.
The family business from Baden-Württemberg has been producing high-quality glass creations for four generations – each piece is created entirely by hand, with precision, experience and a refined feel for materials and craftsmanship.
The company’s roots go back to the mid-20th century, when the Reiss family was active in glass apparatus manufacturing. From this tradition, PLAISIR® evolved into a manufactory that combines classical glassblowing artistry with contemporary aesthetics. The products are individually shaped, ground and finished in Germany by experienced glass apparatus makers.
With a clear focus on quality, innovation and creativity, PLAISIR® today stands for durable glass design that harmoniously combines function and craftsmanship. Each unique piece demonstrates how much expertise, sensitivity and family experience goes into this craft – glass made in Germany, individual, precise and crafted with attention to detail.
PLAISIR – Glass with History, Craft with Character
Behind the French name Plaisir – meaning pleasure and enjoyment – stands a Swabian family business from the heart of Baden-Württemberg, dedicated to the material of glass for four generations. Here, glass is not just any material, but a demanding, sensitive raw material that requires experience, patience, and respect.
“I love glass. It is a special material. Difficult, unpredictable, and very sensitive.”
Dietmar Reiss
This mindset still defines PLAISIR today. The craftsmanship goes back a long way: both grandfather and great-grandfather worked as glass apparatus makers. The father was born into this tradition in 1945 and developed his own passion for glass early on. After completing his training and master craftsman certification in 1974, he continued to refine his craft – first in his grandfather’s workshop, later through self-employment and the founding of PLAISIR in the early 1980s.
In 2004, the next generation joined the company. Daniel Reiss had already been fascinated by glassblowing as a child – not as a nostalgic tradition, but as a living craft that is allowed and required to evolve.
“Tradition and progress are the foundation of our family business.”
Daniel Reiss
PLAISIR stands for quality, precision, and creativity in working with glass. Every piece is still handmade today, with attention to detail and a clear understanding of material, form, and function. Production is deliberately not industrial, but workshop-based – made in Germany, with a focus on durability and authentic craftsmanship.
At Plaisir, this philosophy finds the perfect setting. The PLAISIR selection is exceptionally extensive and carefully curated – with a focus on unique pieces, clean forms, and high-quality craftsmanship. The range reflects the diversity of glasswork and makes visible what PLAISIR stands for: glass with character, history, and substance.
PLAISIR is not a trend, but a commitment to the material of glass – crafted by people who truly understand it.
