We at SCHALL&RAUCH have listened and noticed the strong desire for “More”. That’s why we contributed our part to the development process of the new Gmundner Keramik Bong, ensuring that “more” doesn’t stop at size. We are convinced that outstanding bong design includes a great deal of functionality. That’s why, together with the experienced ceramicists at Gmundner Keramik, we spent the summer intensively tinkering and refining, pondering and polishing the perfect final product. The result is a sophisticated evolution of the Gmundner Bong. One that not only impresses in size, but has also gained significantly in functionality.

At the end of July, – as a response to the report by the satire outlet “Die Tagespresse” – the first Gmundner Keramik Bong was born. Originally produced as a mini bong in three different designs, it quickly became a unique combination of bong culture and traditional Austrian craftsmanship. The limited micro-edition not only took the internet by storm, but also delighted a far larger customer base than we ever expected. Reason enough to put plans for larger-scale production into action.
The result of the intensive development work is a larger, and above all more functional approach to smoking comfort. 1. A longer shaft that delivers more
At a height of 46 cm – more than twice the height of the original prototype – the bong surpasses itself. The new format requires a taller shaft. This creates a longer path for the smoke to travel before it is inhaled, allowing it to cool down more effectively. This results in a smoother and more relaxed experience. The longer shaft also offers ergonomic advantages. The bong sits better in your hand and can be used more comfortably – in a more relaxed posture. The increased cooling leads to a smoother and gentler smoking experience. 2. Bigger belly, smoother smoke
Additionally, the larger bong holds more water. This enhanced filtration effect cleans the smoke more thoroughly. Unwanted particles such as tar and ash are filtered out more effectively, making the smoke pleasantly smooth. A bigger belly also means more volume for the smoke itself. Thanks to the larger circumference, the bong can collect more smoke at once. More smoke can be inhaled in a single draw without it becoming too dense or harsh.
3. Modular and smart – your way
In the course of this sophisticated evolution, we went even one step further – towards modularity, towards individuality. With a standard ground joint of 18.8 cm, the Gmundner now offers more options for combining with additional equipment. The majority of common attachments, such as ash catchers, pre-coolers, bowls, or chillums, fit this joint perfectly. This way, you can equip the bong with your favourites according to your own preferences. Much requested and therefore also new: the carb hole. Thanks to its well-thought-out positioning, it can be operated from both sides, equally by left-handed and right-handed users.
